Charles “Chuck” Frederick Bungum, age 75 of Alexandria and Casa Grande, Arizona, passed away on June 8, 2012 after suffering a massive stroke.

Charles “Chuck” Frederick Bungum, age 75 of Alexandria and Casa Grande, Arizona, passed away on June 8, 2012 after suffering a massive stroke.

Beloved husband, dad and grandfather, he is survived by his wife, Marlys (Stueven) Bungum; daughter, Kirsten Driscoll and husband Jack; daughter, Andrea Bungum; son, Brett Bungum and wife Cheryl; and grandchildren, Charlie, Sara and Peter Driscoll, Sam and Josh Bungum, and Anne Elise Tuttle.

Chuck was born in Hayfield and graduated from Chatfield High School in 1954. After enlisting and serving in the Navy for three years, he attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa and graduated from the University of Minnesota Dental School in 1964. His family lived in Alexandria and Rochester, where he practiced dentistry. He continued his career, teaching at the University of Minnesota Dental School in Minneapolis, where he was hugely popular with his students.

Always the jokester, Chuck will always be known for his great sense of humor, passion for sports and music, acceptance of all family dogs, appreciation for warm winters of Phoenix, and compassion for attending all of his grandkid’s activities. Loved immensely by family, friends and many former dental students, he will be greatly missed by all.

A Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 14 at 2 p.m. at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Anderson Funeral Home and also for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
