Laurel “Lolly” Shea, age 88, of North Mankato, passed away on June 2, 2012 at 10:51 a.m. at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.

Laurel “Lolly” Shea, age 88, of North Mankato, passed away on June 2, 2012 at 10:51 a.m. at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.

Lolly was born June 3, 1923 to Chris and Alice (Wangen) Game at Glyndon. She graduated from Glyndon High School and received a degree in business at Dakota Business College in Fargo, North Dakota. She worked at Dakota Skyways, Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, as well as at Scheel’s of Fargo and the Fargo Clinic Pharmacy before retiring in 1983.

Lolly was united in marriage to Al W. Shea on September 1, 1945 at St. Joseph’s Catholic rectory in Moorhead. They lived briefly in Bremerton, Washington and after Al’s release from the U.S. Navy, they returned to the Fargo-Moorhead area to make their home. After Al’s retirement in 1987, they moved to their lake home in Brandon and spent winters at their home in Arizona.

Lolly was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Inez; brother, Gordon; twin great-grandsons, Jordan and Zachary Shea; and her husband, Al, who passed away on September 17, 2001.

She is survived by her son, Ron (Kathy) Shea of North Mankato; three grandsons, Chris (Jill) Shea of West Fargo, Chad (Tina) Shea of West Fargo, and Cory Shea and son, Dylan Hovdet (Michelle Schuch and son, Parker) of North Mankato; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Aiden, Kati, Madee, and Dylan; as well as niece, Stacy Carter and nephew, Perry Game.

A funeral Mass was held Friday, June 8 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria with the Rev. Steve Binsfeld officiating. Readers were Nancy Shea, Jill Shea and Tina Shea.

Entombment was at St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum with Chris Shea, Chad Shea, Cory Shea, Dylan Hovdet, Perry Game and Stacy Carter serving as pallbearers. Lauren Shea, Aiden Shea, Kati Shea and Madee Shea served as honorary pallbearers.
