LeRoy “Squeak” Allen Young, age 75, of Miltona, died Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 11 at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Miltona with the Rev. Jonathan Sorum officiating. Music will be provided by Kim Byrne.
Urn bearer is Bruce Anderson. Honorary urn bearers are his grandchildren.
Visitation is Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Lind Family Funeral Home in Miltona and continue one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
LeRoy was born April 19, 1937 to Burr A. and Rose M. (Wagner) Young in Gutches Grove, Todd County. He grew up in Clotho, attended country school and graduated from Long Prairie High School in 1956. Following his education, he worked for Tex/Mex as a combine worker before two years in Duluth where he worked for St. Louis County.
He was united in marriage to Ardith V. Rhodes on April 1, 1958 at a Methodist church in Sisseton, South Dakota. Following their marriage they moved to Eagle Bend where they raised their six children and he worked as a dairy farmer. They lived in Osakis before moving to Miltona, where he lived until the time of his death.
He worked for the Browerville Milk Plant from 1958-1964, farmed from 1958-1988, and worked construction for a friend while farming. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends at Jim and Judy’s, where they named him “King Roy.” He loved his bulldozer and spending time with his kids and grandchildren. He was and will be long-remembered as the family mechanic.
Squeak is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ardith; four sons, Lee Young of Bertha, Brian Young, Tony Young and Royce Young, all of Miltona; two daughters, Penny (Darrel Beheng) Young of Miltona and Christy (Lenny) Coyer of Osakis; half-sister, Darlene (Dale) Oftadahl of Eagle Bend; 15 grandchildren, Wendy (Bryan Lewis) Young, Justine (Brad Guck) Young, Adam Young, Becky Young, Christa Young, Anthony Young, Charlie Young, Amanda Grindle, Brandy Young, Danielle Young, Kayla Young, Ryan Young, Brianne Coyer, Trenton Coyer and Brendon Coyer; three great-grandchildren, Nicholas Lewis, Leah Lewis and Dylan Guck.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
