Young musicians to perform at free Thursday concert
The Red Willow Arts Coalition presents the 2012 Young Musicians Night Concert on Thursday, June 14 at 7 p.m. on the lawn at the Douglas County Courthouse in Alexandria. The event is free and open to the pubic.
The Red Willow Arts Coalition presents the 2012 Young Musicians Night Concert on Thursday, June 14 at 7 p.m. on the lawn at the Douglas County Courthouse in Alexandria. The event is free and open to the pubic.
Performers include:
* Jordan Tacker, 11, a student at New Testament Christian School in Alexandria and a member of the Discovery Middle School band. He started drum lessons at Carlos Music Center a few months ago, but has been around drumming his entire life because his father is a drummer.
*Ali Lyngen, 16, a student at Jefferson High School in Alexandria. She has been playing bass guitar for more than four years and guitar for one year.
* Kyle Vander Tuin just completed 6th grade at Voyager Elementary School in Alexandria. He has been playing guitar for a year and a half.
* Alli Prestby, 11, just finished 6th grade at Woodland Elementary School in Alexandria. She started playing piano at age 5 and guitar and percussion last year. She has accompanied her church band and choir.
* Bobbi Pepoe, 10, attends Carlos Elementary School. She first learned to play the accordion from her grandfather and has been taking lessons for a year.
* Megan and Andrew Goulet, brother and sister from Morris, both take instruction on piano and violin and will perform separately and together.
Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. In the event of inclement weather, listen to KXRA 1400 AM for cancellation information.
