SECTION GOLF: Alexandria girls first, boys third, Osakis sixth

SECTION 8AAA GIRLS

Alexandria shares the lead with St. Cloud Tech at 341 as the two teams finished day one of the Section 8AAA girls’ golf tournament at Long Prairie Monday. The near-perfect weather allowed both teams to shoot their best team score ever at this venue.

Also advancing to day two of the tournament are St. Cloud Apollo and Buffalo.

The top four teams advanced to today’s final round.

Cardinal Amanda Bigger tied Lexi Bollant of Buffalo for the lead individually as both players shot rounds of 81.

Natalie Amundson is sixth at 83, Brynn Novotny 10th at 88, Emily Thul 12th at 89, Caroline Roers 21st at 94 and Shelby Iverson 39th at 102.

SECTION 8AAA BOYS

The Alexandria boys made the cut after day one of the Section 8AAA golf tournament at GreyStone Golf Course in Sauk Centre Mon-day, coming in at 309 to hold down third place.

Moorhead has the lead at 298, with Buffalo one stroke ahead of the Cardinals at 308.

Individually, Nick Brundell is in third with a 74, while Lukas Bigger is seventh with a 76, Brady Hafdal 17th at 79 and Austin McCulloch 22nd at 80.

Nic Hanson finished the day with an 81 and Kyle Blank an 83.

SECTION 6AA GIRLS

After day one of the Section 6AA girls’ golf meet, Rocori leads Pequot Lakes by five strokes at the Blackberry Ridge Golf Course in Sartell Monday.

Rocori fired a round of 334, with Pequot Lakes at 339.

Osakis is in sixth place with a 368.

Emily Israelson of Staples-Motley and Maggie Heggerston of Pequot Lakes hold the individual lead, tied at 77.

Osakis did not make the cut as a team, but Peyton Garcia and Annalise Savageau advanced as individuals with rounds of 88 and 89 respectively.
