The Brandon-Evansville baseball team overcame its poor start to the season to finish with a share of the Pheasant Conference championship after a 12-0 win over Ashby last Thursday night.
The Chargers wrapped up the regular season with a 13-7 mark and a 9-3 record in league play. Wheaton-Herman-Norcross also finished with a 9-3 record in the conference.
The win over Ashby was the 12th straight for the Chargers. Brandon-Evansville scored all six of those runs in the fourth with two outs. That’s when the rally started as Billie Juul doubled before scoring on a Tom Bosek single. Two errors followed that extended the inning before Levi Hintermeister got an RBI single and Nolan Bartholomew delivered the knockout punch with a two-run home run to left.
Dan Schaffer improved to 5-2 on the season by limiting the Arrows to just three hits in his second shutout of the season over Ashby.
