The Carlos/Miltona 4th-6th Grade Club is having a Pet Supply Drive as a service project to help the Lakes Area Humane Society (LAHS).
The club is an after-school program. Students in 4th through 6th grade meet twice a week for fun social time and get to participate in academic and enrichment activities, like cooking, recreation, chess, art, computers, service projects, gardening and more.
There is also time to get help with homework.
One of the service projects the students are doing is helping LAHS by making toys for cats and dogs and collecting supplies to donate.
Donation boxes are set up at Elden’s Fresh Foods and Pete’s County Market in Alexandria.
Items accepted include cat food, cat litter, dog food, animal treats, bleach, rugs, blankets, food and water bowls, paper towels, air fresheners, vanilla scented candles, leashes, collars, pet toys, reams of copy paper and pet-related items.
There is a list on the posters at the collection boxes.
Residents are encouraged to help the Carlos/Miltona 4th-6th Grade Club by dropping off pet supplies in the donation boxes this week when they’re at the grocery store.
Boxes will only be available until Sunday, June 3.
