Alexandria School District 206 and the local teachers union group recently reached an agreement on teachers’ salary and benefits.

The school board approved the contract during its May 21 meeting.

Over two years – July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2013 – teachers will receive an overall increase of 4.13 percent.

The contract includes salary schedule improvements as well as a legislatively mandated increase in employer contributions to the Teachers Retirement Association. The agreement also includes minor financial adjustments in sick leave as well as some language changes and clarifications.

School board members Dave Anderson, Alan Ziethamer and Jim Hafdahl served on the negotiating committee.

Hafdahl stated, “I believe this is a fair settlement that speaks to the strong partnership between the district and the teachers union.”
