Softball: Ashby falls to Hillcrest

The Ashby softball team fell 9-4 to Hillcrest Lutheran Academy last Thursday.

The Comets held Ashby to just four hits on the night. Meg Roley had three of those, two of which were doubles. She added two RBIs, while Bailey Funkhouser had a hit and an RBI.

Paige Nelson went the distance in the losing effort. She gave up nine hits and four walks, while striking out three.

“Our bats were pretty quiet today, but this happens when you run into tough pitching,” head coach Kandace Norby said. “My girls played good defense, especially the infield, who got most of the action and made some outstanding plays. Hillcrest hit the ball hard and found a way to string some hits together in the last inning to put the game away.”
