State adapted bowling: Cardinals bring home second place finishes

Frick, Bellefeuille, Sorenson were all runners-up in the CI Division

The Alexandria adapted bowlers went to the state tournament and brought home some more hardware highlighted by a couple of runner-up finishes over the weekend.

“The bowlers did a great job at the state tournament,” head coach Carol Feldmann said. “There was very stiff competition in all divisions.”

The Cardinals’ Ryan Frick and the duo of Dane Bellefeuille and Derreck Sorenson each brought home second-place medals.

Frick earned his in the CI Singles Division in a field of 103 bowlers. He bowled a 445 series to pace six Alexandria bowlers in the male singles division.

Bellefeuille (413) and Sorenson (456) teamed up to finish second among 76 teams. Their 859 had them finishing just in front of their teammates as Zach Long (409) and Tyler Rauscher (424) also finished with a medal after taking fourth with an 833.

The Cardinals held their own in every division. Stephen McCabe earned a medal after taking fourth in the PI Singles competition with his 457 series. McCabe and Jack Botzet also teamed up to take 10th in the PI Doubles competition.

Matt Froemming (371), Long (408), Rauscher (424) and Torii Erickson (362) placed the highest among Alexandria teams in the CI Division. Their 1,565 was good for fifth place. Frick (431), Austin GaNun (391), Sorenson (348) and Scott Hormann (388) were seventh with a score of 1,558.

Kendra Holm also paced the Cardinals with a 12th-place finish in the female CI Singles Division. Her 404 helped her finish as one of eight Alexandria bowlers to bowl a 400 series at the state tournament. Bellefeuille (413, 410), Frick (445, 431), Froemming (437), Long (409, 408), McCabe (457), Rauscher (424, 424) and Sorenson (446) all wrapped up another strong season for the Cardinals by joining Holm in the 400 Club.
