Ronald was born January 1, 1938 in Alexandria, the son of Edward and Erna Lade. He was raised and schooled in Alexandria.
Ron began working in the plumbing business for CL Michaelson and later for Jerry Tilleskjor. On November 6, 1961 Ron was united in marriage to Vivian Blehr at the Douglas County Courthouse. The couple made their home in Alexandria.
Ron joined the plumbers union Local 126 out of Detroit Lakes. He began working construction jobs as a high-pressure pipe fitter. Throughout his career as a pipe fitter, he worked on several large projects including taconite processing plants on the iron range, power plants, gasification plants, oil refineries, hospitals and paper mills. He was working as a pipe fitter at St. John’s University when he retired in August of 1998.
Ron was a former member of the Elks Club. He was also a member of the Minnesota Deer Hunter’s Association and the Eagle’s Club. Ron enjoyed many sports. He spent much of his retirement fishing in the summer and winter. He also spent time hunting deer and ducks. Most recently, Ron enjoyed playing golf with his friends.
His wife, Vivian, preceded him in death.
Many friends in the Alexandria area and Local Union 126 survive Ron.
A funeral service was held Monday, May 14 at Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria. The Rev. David Hinz and the Rev. William Moeller officiated. Dan Olson and Mertice Brueske provided music. Interment followed at Kinkead Cemetery. Melvin “Butch” Kluver served as urn bearer. Honorary pallbearers included John Kluver, Roger Doty, Scott Doty, Van Eastlund, Ron Eastlund, Gerry Garrelts, Perry Wahlen, Ron Lorsung and Brian “Bucky” Solum.
