• The February 2012 Legionnaire of the Month is Orin Lundberg. Lundberg had graduated from high school and was living in Revillo, SD when he enlisted in the Air Force at Aberdeen, SD on December 16, 1948. He went through basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Following basic training he went to Air Force Technical School at Chanote Air Force Base, Illinois.
In June of 1949 he qualified as a power plant mechanic and in November of 1949 as an aircraft maintenance technician. In December 1949 he was stationed overseas. He served at Clark Field in the Philippines; Tachikawa Air Force Base in Japan; and at various bases in Korea. On March 29, 1951, Lundberg was awarded the Korean Service Medal. His overseas service lasted two years and seven days.
When he returned to the U.S. he was sent to Allison Plant, Indianapolis and qualified as a jet engine mechanic. On September 5, 1952 he was discharged at Clovis Air Force Base in Clovis, New Mexico. Lundberg had achieved the rank of technical sergeant. Following his active duty service, he completed a master’s degree.
Lundberg has been a Legion member for at least 42 years. He is an honor to Alexandria and to Post 87.
• Owen Miller has again been recognized by the Million Dollar Round Table, The Premier Association of Financial Professionals as a Life Member with 34 years of membership.
He has been serving clients through the New York Life Insurance Company for 49 years, New York Life has been meeting the financial needs of individuals, families and businesses since 1845 and celebrated 167 years on April 12, 2012.
