Card boys' golf: Alexandria golfs its way to share of CLC lead

Alexandria was second at Rocori as Bigger medals

The Alexandria boys’ golf team found itself tied atop the Central Lakes Conference standings after finishing second at the Rocori Invite held on Monday.

Fergus Falls did both Brainerd and the Cardinals a favor by shooting a 339 in Monday’s meet. That opened the door for Brainerd (307) and Alexandria (310), which finished first and second at Rocori.

“Going into this meet, we figured we would have to win all of our CLC meets to win the title,” head coach Rick Larson said. “I knew this was a definite possibility but did not figure on Fergus Falls having such a bad outing. They have played steady all spring.”

Freshman Lukas Bigger continues to play well beyond his years this spring as he led the Cardinals with a 72. That was the low round of his career. Nick Brundell shot a 77. Brady Hafdal carded an 80 and Kyle Blank rounded out the four scorers with an 81.

Alexandria will take advantage of a small break in the schedule to get some practice time in as it tries to capture the CLC title. The Cardinals were off until hosting a home meet next Monday. It is the last regular season conference meet of the season and a chance for Alexandria to grab the reins in the CLC on its home course.
