Senate District 8 Republicans endorse candidates
The Senate District 8 Republicans held their bi-annual Endorsing Convention on Saturday, May 5 at the Lakes Area Community Center in Battle Lake. Three candidates for office were endorsed. State Senator Bill Ingebrigtsen was chosen to compete again for a seat in the State Senate in the newly formed Senate District 8.

State Senator Bill Ingebrigtsen was chosen to compete again for a seat in the State Senate in the newly formed Senate District 8.
Ingebrigtsen has served in the State Senate since 2006, representing District 11. He has been involved in public service for 34 years, including 15 years as the Douglas County sheriff.
He currently is the chair of the State Senate Environment and Natural Resources Committee, and also serves on the Senate Finance and Judiciary and Public Safety Committees.
Ingebrigtsen and his wife, Marilyn, live in rural Douglas County. They have two children.
State Representative Bud Nornes was chosen to run for re-election to the House from the newly formed House District 8A. Nornes has served in the State House since 1996, representing District 10A.
Prior to serving in the State House, Nornes owned and operated the KBRF AM and KJJK FM radio stations in Fergus Falls. He currently is the chair of the State House Higher Education Policy and Finance Committee, and also serves on the House Capital Investment, Public Safety and Crime Prevention Policy and Finance, Rules and Legislative Administration and Ways and Means Committees.
Nornes and his wife, Joyce, live in Fergus Falls in Otter Tail County. They have three children.
State Representative Mary Franson was chosen to run again for the State House seat in the newly formed House District 8B. Franson has served in the State House since 2010, representing District 11B.
Prior to serving in the State House, Franson worked for AT&T and was a licensed child care provider. She currently serves on the Agriculture and Rural Development Policy and Finance, Health and Human Services Finance and Health and Human Services Reform committees.
She and her three children live in Alexandria.
The new Senate District 8 and House Districts 8A and 8B were created due to redistricting. House District 8A encompasses the cities of Fergus Falls, Pelican Rapids, Perham, Dalton, Underwood, Battle Lake, Vergas, Dent, Erhard and Elizabeth, all in Otter Tail County.
The new House District 8B encompasses the cities of Clitherall, Vining, Urbank, Parkers Prairie, Henning, Deer Creek, Ottertail, Bluffton and New York Mills in Otter Tail County and Miltona, Garfield, Carlos, Nelson, Osakis and parts of Alexandria in Douglas County.
