The Sauk River Watershed District (SRWD) has several new items available on their website for review by the public.

In addition, the District has been working on some new features for its website and has added a Facebook page.

The District has posted its 2011 Annual Report and 2012 Plan of Operations as well as its audit information online at www.srwdmn.org.

The report covers the goals and objectives of the organization as well as the work completed in 2011.

A summary of the monitoring, education, projects, permits and ditch-related projects conducted are included in this report.

In 2011, the District reached more than 9,000 students through classroom presentations and special events. More than 90 projects were constructed in 2011 through the implementation program. This is just a couple of highlights in this year’s report.

The District also just completed its annual audit. The audit information and financial statements are now online.

Recently the District started a Facebook page and has been working to include notices and information about the District.

Another effort currently under way is a total remodel of the District’s website. The new site, which will be launched later this year, will have an interactive map, much like those found on Google. Landowners will be able to look up where they are in the District and more easily find information and resources about how the impairments in the water resources affect them.

As a local government body, the SRWD was formed in 1986 and extends from six miles west of Osakis flowing south to the Mississippi River near St. Cloud. The District’s namesake, the Sauk River, meanders for 120 miles. Members of its board of managers are appointed to three-year terms by commissioners from five counties to represent the interests of Douglas, Meeker, Pope, Stearns and Todd counties.

For more information about the SRWD, visit www.srwdmn.org or call (320) 352-2231.
