Church for the Harvest in Alexandria and Destiny Church in Ashby worked in union on a recent trip to Sri Lanka. A team of 12 from the area left April 9 for Colombo, Sri Lanka and returned April 18.

This was the seventh time the churches have taken a trip to the nation since 2002. When they first visited the country in 2002, only 1-1/2 percent of the nation’s 20 million people were Christians.

Today that number is close to 10 percent.

The team participated in Harvest Life Bible School’s largest graduation, with students receiving two-year ministry diplomas, bachelor of arts, masters of theology and Christian counseling degrees through the Minnesota Graduate School of Theology.

The leadership team shared and ministered in various churches throughout the city, strengthening Christians in their faith.

The trip also included hosting an annual History Makers youth conference with more than 180 youth participating; a men’s conference with 100 men from the region; a children’s rally that included ministry with drama, skits and face painting for the children; and concluded with a two-day pastors’ and leaders’ retreat.
