- WCU 9th grade
The West Central United 9th grade basketball team, with players from Alexandria, Glenwood, Willmar, Bertha-Hewitt and Parkers Prairie, recently won the Forest Lake tournament, defeating three teams from the Twin Cities, including the Eastview Lightning in the championship game. WCU plays in Division I of the Minnesota Youth Athletic Services (MYAS) spring league. Members of the team include (not in order) Grant Yohnke, Parkers Prairie; Tyler Owen, Alexandria; Joe Gorghuber, Alexandria; Kris Setterstrom, Alexandria; Danny Kuhn, Alexandria; Riley Thompson, Glenwood; Luke Lippert, Willmar; Carter Sack, Willmar; and Preston Riewer, Bertha-Hewitt. The team is coached by Andrew Wiener.
