Students who live near Voyager Elementary School in Alexandria hopped aboard the “Walking School Bus” last week.
The activity was held to promote healthy living and advocate walking to school instead of riding a bus. Because there are not a lot of sidewalks from the residential areas to the school in that area, the project encouraged parents to volunteer to serve as chaperones to walk kids to school so that they feel safe.
