West Central MN Communities Action and the North Country Food Bank are announcing a food distribution in five western Minnesota Communities on Friday, May 4.

The communities of Villard in Pope County, Wheaton in Traverse County, Hoffman in Grant County, Donnelly in Stevens County, and Brandon in Douglas County will share a truckload of food at each community’s distribution site.

In Villard, the distribution site will be at the Villard Fire Hall from noon until the food is gone.

In Wheaton, the distribution site will be at Bethlehem Covenant Church from 12:30 p.m. until the food is gone.

In Hoffman, the distribution site will be at the Hoffman Community Center from 12:30 p.m. until the food is gone.

In Donnelly, the distribution site will be at the Donnelly Fire Hall from 1 p.m. until the food is gone.

In Brandon, the distribution site will be at the Brandon Fire Hall from 5 p.m. until the food is gone.

Steve Nagle, the executive director of West Central MN Communities Action, has made this distribution possible through contributions and FEMA funds.

The food is compiled, delivered and distributed by North Country Food Bank Inc., a nonprofit agency that distributes almost 200,000 pounds of food products to more than 150 hunger relief agencies in northwest Minnesota and part of Grand Forks, North Dakota, each month.

All who attend one of the distributions will receive an abundance of grocery items, including produce items if available.

If you are unable to attend, you may send someone in your place, as long as the proxy is able to register for you.

Qualifying to receive the food is simple. The only qualification is that you eat. You are asked to bring your own boxes, baskets or bins for carrying the distribution you receive.

Volunteers are also needed.

For more information or to sign up to volunteer, call 1-800-492-4805 or e-mail Office@wcmca.org .

West Central Minnesota Community Action, Inc., a resource agency, is dedicated to reducing the effects of poverty and helping people to achieve self-sufficiency, and improving the quality of rural life.
