Letter - Legislation will boost economy

To the editor:

Thanks to Sen. Bill Ingebrigtsen, R-Alexandria, for his leadership on legislation that continues the reforms and streamlining of the environmental review and permitting process at state agencies. This bill brings the state’s regulatory process into the 21st century while still ensuring that our environment is protected for future generations. These changes are integral to helping Minnesota businesses remain competitive in today’s global economy.

Accelerating and simplifying the environmental review and permitting process at the Pollution Control Agency and Department of Natural Resources was one of the top priorities for the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce and our 2,300 members this year. This important initiative received bipartisan support in the Legislature, thanks to Ingebrigtsen’s efforts. Gov. Mark Dayton signed the bill into law April 2.
