Card boys' track and field: Lovrien, Hacker earn runner-up honors

Jimmy Lovrien and Jesse Hacker each placed second at the Monticello Invitational Thursday, leading Alexandria to a sixth place finish.

Lovrien ran to a 10:26.33 in the 3,200-meter run, while Hacker tossed the shot 48’1.5” for their runner-up spots.

“Lee Klein had a stellar day, placing third in both the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash with times of 11.76 and 24.06, respectively,” said head coach Jerry Amundson. “Zac Bartolomeo moved down in distance to run the 400 meters in this competition and placed third with a great time of 52.00.

“Colby Carlson tied his personal best jump in the pole vault with 10’6” to tie for third place [and] Colin Guetter tossed the discus 129’6.5” to place third.”

Brandon Beliveau added a fourth place in the discus with a toss of 128’5”.

“The biggest improvement of the meet came from sophomore Austin Thom,” said Amundson. “Austin dropped over 17 seconds in the 3,200-meter run to place fifth with his time of 10:42.76.”

The Cardinals will now travel to Sauk Rapids-Rice on Thursday, May 10.
