Douglas County sheriff’s deputies arrested a 53-year-old man Friday night after he allegedly threatened others with a handgun.

At about 9 p.m., deputies responded to 14359 Spruce Hill Park Road, south of Spruce Center, after receiving a call that a man was threatening three men with a handgun.

The men were employed by an area crop production company and were spraying fields on a farm, according to the sheriff’s office. The suspect, Loren Koenen, lives on the property but doesn’t own the farm.

Koenen reportedly confronted the men, pointed a handgun at them and threatened them, according to the sheriff’s office.

The men took cover until deputies arrived.

The deputies confronted Koenen, who retreated into his residence, and he was arrested without incident.

The handgun, which was found to be loaded, was removed.

Koenen is in the Douglas County Jail awaiting assault charges.
