Information has been released about a car-motorcycle crash that injured a Glenwood couple Monday on 3rd Avenue West, near Fairgrounds Road, in Alexandria.

Charles Wencl, 60, of Alexandria was driving a 1996 Dodge Neon and after stopping at the stop sign on Fairgrounds Road, he attempted to make a left turn. Wencl pulled out onto County Road 82 and didn’t see a motorcycle traveling east on County Road 82, according to the Alexandria Police Department.

Steve Lenarz, 53, of Glenwood was driving the 2012 Victory motorcycle and his 51-year-old wife, Holly, was a passenger. Both Steve and Holly were ejected over the handlebars and the motorcycle rolled into the north shoulder of the road, according to police.

Steve and Holly both received leg and foot injuries in the crash, according to family members. Holly also suffered facial injuries and was airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital. Steve was reportedly transferred to St. Cloud Hospital on Tuesday.

The family told the Echo Press that the couple are members of the Patriot Guard and had helped escort returning National Guard troops home to Alexandria Monday. Their nephew was one of the guardsmen returning from the Middle East on Monday.

Wencl was cited for failure to yield.
