West Central Area girls' golf: Knights eighth at Pelican Rapids
The West Central Area girls finished eighth at the Pelican Rapids Invitational golf meet Tuesday.
Marissa Hayward led the Knights with a 102.
“We felt good about our day,” said head coach Kari Kreft. “We got toenjoy golf on a perfect spring day.
“Three of our players had never played Wildflower and it was the first 18-hole varsity meet for those three same girls. No. 12 is surrounded by sand traps. We had worked hard at practice on Monday, practicing recovery shots from traps and the girls were very successful with this.
Our putting was solid,” she added. “ The holes at Wildflower are very long. We have to remember this when we play there. We will have bigger scores here. We look forward to playing there again in May and improving a bit upon our scores. We had several pars and bogeys as a team and we are proud of that.”
Staples-Motley earned top honors with a 367, while Pelican Rapids was second with a 369.
