Cherry Street Books in Alexandria welcomes author and public radio essayist and personality Peter Smith for a book-signing on Friday, April 27 from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
Smith’s two published works are A Porch Sofa Almanac and A Cavalcade of Lesser Horrors. Many of the short, humorous essays in the books were originally written for broadcast on Minnesota Public Radio’s Morning Edition.
A Porch Sofa Almanac takes the reader through the year with wry little observations on life in Minnesota. In A Cavalcade of Lesser Horrors, the essays point out how being human can be an awkward, messy and sometimes embarrassing business.
In this series of funny, honest and moving pieces, Smith explores a few messy epidoses from his own life. He discovers how these moments not only help define what it is to be human but also how these little incidents can be a major source of inspiration and imagination.
Smith is a 30-year veteran of Twin Cities advertising and a regular contributor to Morning Edition on Minnesota Public Radio. He writes magazine features, fiction and occasional op-ed pieces. Prior to his appearance at Cherry Street Books, located at 503 Broadway, he will be the featured speaker at the Chamber of Commerce’s Spring Luncheon.
