Otter Tail County lake associations to hold first meeting

The first meeting of the Otter Tail County Coalition of Lake Associations (COLA) will be held on Saturday, April 28th at 9 am at the Community Center, 103 Lake Avenue S, Ottertail.

The first meeting of the Otter Tail County Coalition of Lake Associations (COLA) will be held on Saturday, April 28th at 9 a.m. at the Community Center, 103 Lake Avenue S, Ottertail.

The Otter Tail County COLA represents property owners on over 40 lakes throughout Otter Tail County.  Its goal is to facilitate cooperation among member lake associations and support their efforts in protecting and enhancing the quality of the lakes and rivers in Otter Tail County.

The biggest challenge in 2012 will be the stopping of the spread of Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) through education and training.  Members of Otter Tail County’s Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Task Force answer questions about Otter Tail County’s AIS initiatives for 2012.

The feature speaker will be Moriya Rufer with RMB Lab.  The COLA sponsors a water quality monitoring program and RMB Lab staffers will be on hand to distribute the lake water sampling equipment.

Not a member of the Otter Tail County COLA?  Simply contact Steve Johnson by phone at 218-758-3707 or by email at sojcjj@arvig.net and request an Application for Membership.  The COLA’s website can be found at www.minnesotawaters.org/group/otccola

The doors to the Community Center will be open at 8:30 a.m. for socializing over a cup of coffee prior to the start of the meeting.  The meeting starts at 9 a.m.  All meetings are open to the public.
