Speech team completes season

The Alexandria Speech Team competed in the section tournament on Thursday, April 12 at Detroit Lakes High School.

While none of the team members advanced to the state tournament, Jefferson High School senior Caroline Roers came close by earning a 5th place medal in great speeches. Roers has been a member of the speech team since 7th grade.

Other competitors included:

Mariah Lichty – 11th in drama.

Lydia Gusaas – 9th in extemporaneous reading.

Emily Prestby – 12th in poetry.

Isabelle Hartokolis – 9th in prose.

Daniel Roers – competed in prose.

Mari Senstad – competed in storytelling.

The Alexandria Speech Team will hold a team banquet on Thursday, April 19 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Pizza Ranch to celebrate the season.
