Letter - Bashing of religious faith not OK
A writer indicated that he thought Catholics in America should relax a little more and be OK with the bashing of their faith in editorial cartoons. After all, it’s the nature of editorial cartoons to be offensive.
To the editor:

I could agree and chuckle myself if it wouldn’t be for the fact that newspapers in this country, in greater numbers daily, are declaring open season on Catholics and Protestants in alarming numbers. You won’t see a mocking cartoon anywhere about Allah or the Islamic faith. You don’t see many mocking the Jewish faith. There are multitudes of the silent majority who sincerely feel that the taking of an innocent life is an abomination to the creator. They are held in contempt by the religion of “political correctness.”
Anyone who dares stand up and speak against abortion or in defense of marriage between a man and a woman is declared out of touch and intolerant. As long as America is free, and I’m not sure we always will be, people will continue to stand up for and speak out for those who are being maligned for their sincerely held beliefs.
The Catholics and Protestants need to speak up loud and clear that it is not hunting season on Catholics and Protestants and bashing of religious faith is not OK.
