The Minnewaska softball team couldn’t hold on after a four-run first inning as Albany rallied for a 12-7 win last Thursday night.
Jillian Hendrickson and Kaylee Jacobs had RBI-doubles and Julie Helander homered in the opening frame as the Lakers jumped out to an early lead. The Huskies responded with six runs in the first two innings before a four-run sixth gave them the cushion they were looking for down the stretch.
Hendrickson finished 2-for-4 to lead the Lakers’ offense. Lexi Amundson added a two-run home run in the fourth and Helander finished 1-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs.
Mady Phillips took the loss from the circle. She allowed 13 hits over six innings of work. Eight of the runs she allowed were unearned as she walked three and struck out three.
