A vintage fashion show coupled with a light lunch and tea made for a delightful afternoon of awareness and fundraising for Someplace Safe.
The third annual Vintage Tea event raised about $9,500 for the organization, according to Susie Trexler, sexual assault advocate at Someplace Safe Douglas County.
“As important as the dollar amount is, the awareness part is critical,” Trexler said.
She said many people at the tea told her they didn’t realize what Someplace Safe does for the community as a crisis center.
Someplace Safe is a nonprofit organization working to eliminate violence in West Central Minnesota and beyond. The organization’s programming currently includes: a 24-hour crisis line; emergency shelter services for women and their children; domestic abuse, sexual assault and general crimes advocacy; parenting time centers for parent-child exchanges and supervised visitation; and a thrift store in Alexandria.
