Raymond "Ray" Paul Mrnak, age 84 of Glenwood, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Society, Lakeview in Glenwood.
Raymond "Ray" Paul Mrnak, age 84 of Glenwood, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Society, Lakeview in Glenwood.
Raymond was born April 28, 1927 in Leven Township, Pope County, to Joe and Anna (Havlik) Mrnak,. He grew up on a farm near Lowry, where he attended country school and was a member of St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church.
On August 20, 1962, he was united in marriage to Betty Boon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glenwood. The couple made their home on Ray’s farm, north of Glenwood. This marriage was blessed with three children. Ray and Betty continued to live and work on the farm. They shared 42 years of marriage before Betty passed away on June 18, 2005. When Raymond could no longer take care of his daily needs, he moved into the Good Samaritan Society, Lakeview where he continued to reside. He passed away there on April 10, 2012.
Ray enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing cards, polka music, kolaches, visiting with family, and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be remembered for being a hardworking, devoted, family man with a good sense of humor.
He is survived by his son, David Mrnak of Glenwood; daughters, Deb (Rod) Armstrong of Foley and Judy (Jack Herr) Mrnak of New York Mills; grandchildren, Ashley Herr, Shannon Armstrong, Faith Armstrong and Lindsey Armstrong; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank, Henry and Robert; sisters, Lillian Trousil and Agnes Jindra.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, April 16 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glenwood with Father Peter Kirchner officiating.
Interment was at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Cemetery in rural Lowry.
