Blizzard on the brink of elimination

The Alexandria Blizzard fell into a 1-2 hole in the best-of-five series against Austin after the Bruins won a 4-0 shutout in game three last night.

Austin was coming off a 5-0 loss itself in game two after Michael Bitzer turned aside 32 shots for Alexandria. Six days later, it was Bruins' goaltender Tyler Bruggeman who played the role of stopper. He got the shutout with 27 saves after getting pulled to start the third period in game two.

Bitzer was once again in net for Alexandria. He took the loss after making 37 saves on the 40 shots he faced. The Bruins' Austin Nelson added an empty-netter with 16 seconds left to put the finishing touches on the win. All three of Austin's goals prior to that came on the power play.

That puts the Blizzard in a must-win situation going into tonight. The two teams will drop the puck on game four at 7:05 p.m. in Austin.
