Pilot Flying J recently acquired Pipeline Travel Plaza on Evergreen Lane just off Interstate 94 at exit 100 into Alexandria.
It will be remodeled into the Flying J Travel Plaza to feature full amenities for professional drivers and the motoring public.
The travel plaza will remain open during remodeling, which is expected to be complete in July 2012.
The 10,200-square-foot travel plaza will feature four gasoline lanes and four diesel lanes along with diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) at the pump. The facility also will feature high-speed fuel pumps that provide faster flow so customers can refuel quickly as well as a restaurant and a wide variety of convenience items.
“We hope that Alexandria area residents and fleet customers will enjoy the convenience and amenities of our new Flying J Travel Plaza,” said Jimmy Haslam, president and CEO of Pilot Flying J. “As the driver-driven company, we are proud that this travel plaza will serve this community through products and services as well as contribute to the local economy through jobs and tax revenue. And, we’ll fill the needs of those carrying goods to communities across the nation.”
The Flying J Travel Plaza in Alexandria is part of the network of more than 550 travel centers and travel plazas in the Pilot Flying J family, which serves more than 1.3 million customers every day across the U.S. and Canada.
The Alexandria location will include a Subway restaurant; restrooms; fax and copy services; Western Union and check cashing; an ATM; 60 parking spaces for cars; and general merchandise for professional drivers and highway travelers.
“We believe our familiar Flying J sign will be a welcome sight for interstate travelers and professional drivers. They’ll want to pull off to fill up, refresh and sample some of our featured food items like fresh deli sandwiches and Oscar Mayer hot dogs,” said Mark Durheim, general manager for the Alexandria location.
“Our premium hot beverages include gourmet specialty coffees from all over the world as well as Pilot’s house coffee, which was named the ‘Best Coffee on the Interstate’ by the readers of Truckers News. We also have a variety of fountain drinks and fresh brewed tea,” Durheim added.
In addition to diesel fuel and DEF at the pump, professional drivers will have access to such convenient services as a CAT scale, Transflo, six automated showers and 80 parking spaces for trucks. As Pilot Flying J remodels the travel plaza, a fifth diesel fuel lane will be added.
As with all other Pilot Flying J locations, the Alexandria Flying J Travel Plaza honors the MyRewards loyalty card. Pilot Flying J launched the MyRewards loyalty program in March of this year but continues to honor existing Frequent Fueler Advantage cards. Pilot and Flying J merged in 2010, and both brands are still available on U.S. highways.
