Area track and field: Osakis, WCA, Minnewaska compete at Marv Meyer Invite

The Osakis boys’ and girls’ track and field teams finished seventh and fourth, respectively, at the Marv Meyer Invite held at the University of Minnesota-Morris on Tuesday evening.

The Osakis boys’ and girls’ track and field teams finished seventh and fourth, respectively, at the Marv Meyer Invite held at the University of Minnesota-Morris on Tuesday evening.

The West Central Area boys finished second at the event, Minnewaska ninth and Parkers Prairie 11th. The Minnewaska girls were sixth, WCA seventh and Parkers Prairie 11th, as well.

Makayla Hoglin got the Silverstreak girls going with a second-place finish in the 800-meter run (2:37.60). Isabelle Szech was second in the 3,200 (14:22.76), while Kayla Sorenson added a runner-up finish in the high jump (4-06).

Halle Christianson got the Minnewaska girls off on the right track with a win in the 400-meter dash (1:05.15). Britta Lundblad added a top finish in the high jump (4-06.50) before Brandi Otto took second in the shot put (32-10.50) and first in the discus (111-05).

Justin Roggenbuck helped pace the Minnewaska boys with a second-place finish in the 100-meter dash (11.35). The Lakers also won the 4x100 relay in a time of 47.98.

West Central Area’s Warren Oberg won the high jump (5-08). Dakotah Kashmark took the long jump (19-00) and Daniel Schack won the triple jump (37-04) for the Knights.
