Ghost truck smashes into transformer

The Alexandria Police Department is looking for the driver/owner of the semi truck and trailer that crashed into a large electrical transformer on Friday at 9:40 p.m.
After striking the transformer in the parking lot of Plaza Discount Liquors, the vehicle continued driving, a witness told police. Officers found the truck in less than 10 minutes of the call – the truck was locked and unoccupied.
The semi and trailer have been impounded and are being processed for evidence, driver and owner information. The truck did not have license plates.
Power was knocked out at the Viking Plaza Mall and businesses south of 34th Avenue. Alexandria Light and Power restored power to the grid by 10:30 p.m.
