New District 8 holds convention
The organizing and endorsing convention for the redistricted DFL Senate District 8 was held on Saturday, March 31, in Battle Lake. The newly defined District 8 is composed of 109 precincts in Otter Tail and Douglas counties.
The organizing and endorsing convention for the redistricted DFL Senate District 8 was held on Saturday, March 31, in Battle Lake.
The newly defined District 8 is composed of 109 precincts in Otter Tail and Douglas counties.
District 8A includes Fergus Falls and most of west Otter Tail County. District 8B covers the city of Alexandria, Alexandria Township, precincts north and east in Douglas County, and the eastern half of Otter Tail County.
At the convention, DFL precinct delegates from Douglas and Otter Tail counties unanimously endorsed Dan Skogen as their candidate for Minnesota State Senate. Bob Cunniff, Alexandria, was elected on the first ballot as the DFL candidate for Minnesota House of Representatives District 8B.
The endorsement in District 8A was postponed until a later date.
Senate district officers were also elected, including: Beth Jansen – Alexandria, chair; Jim Adamietz – Ottertail – associate chair; Cal Anderson – Alexandria, treasurer; Mavis Flemmer – Erhard, outreach director; and Connie Stigen and Larry Barber– Fergus Falls, as alternates to the DFL State Central Committee.
