The New York Mills baseball team showed why Brandon-Evansville head coach Brian Perleberg saw the Eagles as the team to beat in the Section 6A field coming into the season after thumping the Chargers 19-1 in the season opener on Monday.
The New York Mills baseball team showed why Brandon-Evansville head coach Brian Perleberg saw the Eagles as the team to beat in the Section 6A field coming into the season after thumping the Chargers 19-1 in the season opener on Monday.
New York Mills scored six runs in the first inning and added at least one to end things after five. Included in that was a five-run third, a three-run fourth and a four-run fifth to blow things open.
The Chargers could counter with just one hit on the night. Mitch Anderson singled in the fifth before scoring the team’s only run on an RBI-groundout by Jake Roers.
Dan Schaffer took the loss for Brandon-Evansville. Adam Snelgrove got the win for New York Mills and was aided by three-hit days from Brandon Kupfer and Dan Kraft.
