Six injured in I-94 crash near Alexandria

Six people were injured – two seriously – in a rollover near Alexandria Monday. The crash happened on Interstate 94 near mile marker 103 at about 5:30 p.m. Kyle Lindstrom, 18, of Savage was driving a 2004 Honda Pilot when he quickly caught up behind a semi trailer and swerved left to pass it, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The crash happened on Interstate 94 near mile marker 103 at about 5:30 p.m. Kyle Lindstrom, 18, of Savage was driving a 2004 Honda Pilot when he quickly caught up behind a semi trailer and swerved left to pass it, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The Honda struck the left side of the semi, went off the road and rolled in the median several times.

One of the five passengers, Zachary Fennessy, 17, of Prior Lake, was ejected from the vehicle. North Memorial Ambulance transported him to the Douglas County Hospital and he was later transferred to the St. Cloud Hospital. He was listed in fair condition Tuesday morning.

Another passenger, Matthew Berg, 18, of Savage, was taken to the Douglas County Hospital and later transferred to Hennepin County Medical Center where he was listed in satisfactory condition on Tuesday. He was wearing a seat belt.

Everyone else in the Honda was also wearing seat belts and suffered only minor injuries. They included Lindstrom, Nathan Berg, 18, of Savage, Corey Clifford, 18, of Prior Lake and Joseph Fonseca, 18, of Savage.

The Alexandria Police Department and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
