Lifestyles Expo casts a spell

“A Little Bita Everything” was the name of an Osakis ranch that brought exotic animals to the Viking Plaza Mall Saturday as part of the 18th annual Lifestyles Expo.

And that’s what a steady stream of expo-goers enjoyed – a little of bit of everything.

They bopped along with the Just for Kix dancers, smiled in amazement at the antics of the Imaginick magic act, marveled at the chinchilla, skink, honey bear and other animals from the ranch, and browsed among the nearly 70 exhibitors that set up inside the mall.

The free event went well, according to Karen Jennissen, the Echo Press coordinator for the Lifestyles Expo, which was co-sponsored by Viking Plaza and the Douglas County Hospital.

She noted that the 200 chairs that were set up for the entertainment acts throughout the day quickly filled up.

Exhibitors were pleased with the activity at the mall. On their response cards, they commented on the steady public traffic, how well organized the event was and how the expo provided a good opportunity to meet potential customers.

Judging by the success of this year’s event, the expo will likely return for a 19th show next spring.
