WCA girls' golf: Knights will rely on youth

The West Central Area girls’ golf team lost four of its six golfers from its section tournament team that finished as the runner-up last season.
State qualifiers Megan Amundson and Megan Keep, along with Tayler Christenson were all lost to graduation last spring. Tiana Christenson changed sports, leaving another hole for someone else to fill in the upcoming season.
“With four of the six members from last year’s section team gone, inexperience will be our weakness,” head coach Kari Kreft said. “We hope that the extra practice time in this nice weather will really benefit us.”
Junior Morgan Grove and sophomores Marissa Hayward and Tiffany Boysen are back as letter winners from last year looking to lead the way. The Knights have also added newcomers McKenzie Hunter, Ashlyn Olson, Ashton Hagen, Mariah Hennen and Ivy Salazar who hope to compete for varsity spots this spring.
“The WCA girls’ golf team is filled with positive personalities and hard workers who have set realistic but lofty goals for our season,” Kreft said. “We are excited to see the outcome.”
