Two local companies provide prayers for soldier

He honors them in return

The American flag was flown with great honor and pride at the Detention Facility in Parwan, Afghanistan on September 18, 2011.

Specialist Craig Sholts of Alexandria was stationed there during his tour of duty as a member of the Army National Guard.

A number of employees at Alexandria Extrusion Company (AEC) and Douglas Machine Inc. prayed for his safety.

“As Craig’s father, it’s hard to express my appreciation for my coworkers who prayed for Craig’s safety,” said Al Sholts, COO of Alexandria Extrusion.

Craig Sholts said he was extremely appreciative for the support and prayers from many people who do not even know him personally, but actively prayed for him through the prayer teams of both Alexandria Extrusion and Douglas Machine Inc.

To show his appreciation, Craig returned with the American flag flown on September 18 and presented it to both companies.

In January, Craig presented the flag and plaque to his father, Al Sholts, AEC’s CEO, Tom Schabel, and AEC’s Corporate Chaplain, Deb Weaver. Craig also made a presentation to Douglas Machine Inc.’s CEO, Vern Anderson, its president and COO, Rick Paulsen, and its corporate chaplain, Deb Weaver.

The company leaders said that Craig, the nation’s elite task forces fighting in Operation Enduring Freedom and all of the others serving the country deserve prayers and support, always.
