Alexandria speech team members earn honors

Students from Discovery Middle School and Jefferson High School in Alexandria took part in the Central Lakes Conference speech tournament at Rocori High School recently.

Students performed in three rounds. The top six performers were recognized as All-Conference champions while the 7th and 8th place performers received honorable mention.

Award winners included Mariah Lichty, 8th place honorable mention, creative expression and 6th place All-Conference champion in drama; Colin Robertson, 2nd place All-Conference champion, discussion; Lydia Gusaas, 8th place honorable mention, extemporaneous reading; Caroline Roers, 2nd place All-Conference champion, great speeches; Isabelle Hartakolis, 5th place All-Conference champion, prose; and Katelyn Tracy, 8th place honorable mention, storytelling.

The team earned 5th place at the event.
