Math ‘masters’ share their skills at recent regional competition
Ten Alexandria School District 206 Math Masters teams recently competed in the regional competition at Woodland Elementary School (WES) in Alexandria. A total of 36 teams from west central Minnesota participated in the event.
Ten Alexandria School District 206 Math Masters teams recently competed in the regional competition at Woodland Elementary School (WES) in Alexandria. A total of 36 teams from west central Minnesota participated in the event.
The competition included a fact drill round, three individual rounds and three team rounds.
Four District 206 teams finished in the top eight, with several students taking individual honors.
Following are the results of the team competition:
• WES Team 2 placed 2nd and received a team plaque and individual medallions. Members include Joe Brezina, Nicholas Chromey, Wil Kopp, Alli Prestby and CJ Schlosser.
• Lincoln Elementary School (LES) Team 1 placed 3rd and received a team plaque and individual medallions. Members are Jackson Grove, Amos Hedstrom, Bruce Navratil, Ryan Swanberg and Jason Tikkanen.
• Miltona Elementary School (MES) Team 1 placed 5th and earned ribbons. Members include Ivan Brever-Corage, Dahlton Hastings, Kade Jorud, Clayton Luedeke and Dillon Vogt.
• WES Team 1 place 8th, receiving ribbons. Members are Alison Amundson, Abby Bartosiewski, Emalee Driemeyer, Kathy Freese and Allison O’Kane.
In the fact drill competition, with 175 students competing, Alli Prestby placed 1st and Wil Kopp placed 9th. Both received medals.
In the individual problem-solving competition with 175 students competing, the following students placed in the top 10 and received medallions: Prestby, WES, 2nd; Hedstrom, LES, 4th; Navratil, LES, 5th; Schlosser, WES, 8th; Kopp, WES, 9th.
Receiving ribbons were Jorud, MES, 14th; Chromey, WES, 15th; Grove, LES, 16th; and Swanberg, LES, 18th.
