Aging in Place seminar to be held in Alexandria

Alternative Senior Care and the Assistive Technology Network of Mid-MN announce a free educational seminar with presentations and discussions on products and ideas that enable seniors and those with disabilities to remain safely in their home.

Topics of discussion will include: Making the home accessible and livable for the senior; various assistive devices readily available; the latest in electronic technology including TeleHealth and TeleWellness; funding resources and strategies; and motivational speaker Aaron Cross speaking on Assistive Technologies - It’s Just Duct Tape.

After the presentations, there will be the opportunity to have individual consultations with industry experts.

Whether you’re an individual who needs to learn more about retaining your independence, a loved one or caregiver struggling with your care giving role, or a professional who needs to stay abreast of the latest innovations, this is the seminar for you.

These seminars will take place:

• Tuesday, March 27 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Edgewood Vista (formerly Clearwater Suites), 1902 7th Avenue East, Alexandria.

• Wednesday, March 28 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Central Minnesota Credit Union, 1181 South Main Street, Sauk Centre.

The Assistive Technology Network (ATN) is an organization of six agencies created to help assure access to assistive technology for outstate Minnesotans with all types of disabilities within their geographic regions.

Typical services provided by all members of the ATN include mobile outreach clinics that provide direct services to the consumer, training for the individual, families and professionals, awareness and education activities and information/referral.

Each member of the ATN also provides services that are unique and focus on a given problem or situation in its community.
