Rooney 15th in NCAA Division II swimming and diving championships

Former Alexandria diver Aaron Rooney, a freshman at St. Cloud State University, finished 15th after the prelims of the 1-meter diving competition at the NCAA Division II swimming and diving championships in Mansfield, Texas this week.

Rooney was one of four Huskie divers to compete in the event. He finished with a final score of 422.20. Junior divers Luke Weber and Christ White of St. Cloud State finished first and second, respectively. The Huskies also had freshman Tyler Magalis finish 13th.

It was the first time in school history that divers have finished first and second in that event, and both set national records as they did so.

Rooney and his diving teammates all earned All-American honors.
