County commissioners recognized the outstanding achievements of Douglas County department heads Dave Robley and Mike Woods at Tuesday’s board meeting.
John McDonald, president of the Minnesota County Engineers Association announced the 2012 County Engineer of the Year – Douglas County Public Works Director Dave Robley.
March 13, 2012 was officially proclaimed “Dave Robley Day.”
Robley has been serving Douglas County since 1995. During that time his department completed almost $64 million in construction, paved 45 miles of roads, replaced nine bridges and condensed six outdated maintenance garages into three modern shops. McDonald said he also helped complete the new public works building.
“He’s been pretty busy here,” McDonald said.
Robley is a member of the Minnesota Transportation Alliance and the Minnesota Society of Professional Engineers. He said having the support of the board and being able to be involved with such associations has helped in his accomplishments – as has the support of his staff in the public works department.
Commissioner Bev Bales said Robley is very deserving of the award.
“It is truly an honor,” Robley said.
When Robley isn’t literally paving the way in Douglas County, he is an active Kiwanis and church member and father of two college-age children. While attending Minnesota State University Moorhead, Robley was inducted into the hall of fame for track and field.
Social Services Director Mike Woods received a written commendation from Minnesota Department of Human Services Commissioner Lucinda Jesson. The distinction was given to social service management and staff for perfect performance in meeting the department’s financial reporting requirements in 2011. The achievement is a reflection of filing more than 30 reports in an orderly and timely fashion.
