It's time to vote in the township elections. Nineteen townships in Douglas County are holding elections today, Tuesday.
It's time to vote in the township elections.
Nineteen townships in Douglas County are holding elections today, Tuesday. Lund and Miltona townships are looking at competitors in the treasurer and supervisor races. Many others are incumbents running unopposed.
Here's a summary of all the elections:
ALEXANDRIA TOWNSHIP
Bryan Alstead is running unopposed for a three-year supervisor position. Alstead is an incumbent. Russell Niskanen is running unopposed for a two-year supervisor position to fill a vacancy. Niskanen was appointed in January to fill a vacancy. Polls will be open from noon to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. The annual meeting will follow. In case of inclement weather, the election and annual meeting will be held on March 20. www.alexandriatownship.org
BELLE RIVER TOWNSHIP
Geri Rindahl will be running for a clerk position. She is the incumbent and unopposed. No one has filed for the open three-year supervisor position. Voting will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. at St. Nicholas Church in Carlos. The township’s annual meeting will follow the election, beginning at 8 p.m.
BRANDON TOWNSHIP
Township elections will be held in November. The annual meeting is Tuesday, March 13, at 7 p.m. at the Brandon Hall Community Center. Agenda items include the new township road sign inventory and maintenance policy, potential resolution questions regarding terms of office and appointment of clerk and treasurer for the November ballot.
CARLOS TOWNSHIP
Bill Krivanek will be running for a three-year supervisor position. Rebecca Anderson, an incumbent, will be running for a two-year clerk position. Polls will be open from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, at Carlos Town Hall. The annual meeting will follow. www.carlostownship.org
EVANSVILLE TOWNSHIP
Douglas Lee will be running for a three-year supervisor position. Kim Ostlund will be running for a two-year clerk position. Both are incumbents and running unopposed. Polls will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. The annual meeting will follow at 8:15 p.m.
HOLMES CITY TOWNSHIP
David Fahlin will be running for a three-year supervisor position. Terrance Cooper will be running for a two-year clerk/treasurer position. Both are incumbents and running unopposed. Polls will be open from 3 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, at Holmes City Township Hall, 11180 Tewes Trail SW, Farwell. The annual meeting will follow. In case of inclement weather, the meeting and election may be postponed until March 20.
HUDSON TOWNSHIP
Ron Fenelan will be running for a three-year supervisor position. Joan Eastlund will be running for a two-year clerk position. Both are incumbents and running unopposed. Polls will be open from 4 to 8 p.m. at Forada City Hall on Tuesday, March 13. The annual meeting will follow. A dog ordinance will be a point of discussion at the annual meeting.
IDA TOWNSHIP
Thomas Scearcy will be running for a three-year seat B supervisor position. Barbara Kilgore will be running for a two-year clerk position. Both are incumbents and running unopposed. Polls will be open from noon to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13. The annual election and meeting will be held at the Ida Township Town Hall, 4700 County Road 6 NW, Garfield. The annual meeting will follow. In case of inclement weather, the meeting and election may be postponed until March 20.
LAGRAND TOWNSHIP
Gerhard “Gary” Thoennes will be running for a three-year supervisor position. Thoennes is the incumbent and running unopposed. The annual meeting will be held on March 13 at 8 p.m. Polls will be open from noon to 8 p.m.
LAKE MARY TOWNSHIP
Brad Brechja will be running for a three-year supervisor position. Bonnie Lay will be running for a two-year clerk position. Both are incumbents and running unopposed. Polls will be open from 2 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13. The annual meeting will follow at 8:15 p.m.
LEAF VALLEY TOWNSHIP
Wade Nibbe will be running for a three-year supervisor position. Pamela M. Cuperus will be running for a two-year clerk position. Both are incumbents and running unopposed. Polls will be open from 3 to 8 p.m. at Leaf Valley Town Hall. LUND TOWNSHIP
Troy Johnson will be running for a three-year supervisor position. Johnson is the incumbent and running unopposed. Heidi Thoennes and Renee Odenes are running for a one-year treasurer position. Thoennes is the incumbent. Tom Reddick is running for a two-year clerk position. Reddick is the incumbent and running unopposed. Polls will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, at Lund Town Hall in Melby. The annual meeting will follow. In case of inclement weather, the election and annual meeting will be held on March 20.
MILLERVILLE TOWNSHIP
Steve Boesl will be running for a three-year supervisor position. Marilyn Bitzan will be running for a two-year clerk position. Both are incumbents and running unopposed. Polls will be open from 3 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, at the Millerville Fire Hall. The annual meeting will follow. In case of inclement weather, the election and annual meeting will be held on March 20.
MILTONA TOWNSHIP
Jim Bous will be running against incumbent Matt Kugler for a supervisor position. Tom Blank, an incumbent, will be running unopposed for a clerk position. Polls will be open from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, at the Miltona Community Center. The annual meeting will follow at 8:15 p.m. On the ballot will be a question asking the electors if they want to move the annual election to November of even numbered years. MOE TOWNSHIP
Rodney Johnson will be running for a three-year supervisor position. Todd Egenes will be running for a two-year clerk position. Johnson is an incumbent. Polls will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, at Moe Town Hall, 14188 Moe Hall Road SW. The annual meeting will commence at 8 p.m. In case of inclement weather, the meeting and election may be postponed until the third Tuesday in March.
ORANGE TOWNSHIP
The township’s annual meeting will be held at 3 p.m. at Pollard Community Center in Osakis. One supervisor position and a clerk will be on the ballot – Jennifer Dietrich has filed for the clerk position and David Boogaard is running for supervisor. Voting will be open after the annual meeting and remain open through 8 p.m.
OSAKIS TOWNSHIP
Voters will be asked to select a clerk/treasurer and one supervisor on the ballot next Tuesday – Dawn McNeal has filed for the clerk/treasurer position and Duane Boogaard is running for supervisor. Voting will be held at the Pollard Community Center from 5 to 8 p.m. The township’s annual meeting will be held following the election at 8:15 p.m.
SOLEM TOWNSHIP
One three-year supervisor position is open, no one has filed. Jaclyn Halvorson will be running for a two-year clerk position. Halvorson is an incumbent. Polls will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. at Kensington Runestone Park Barn. The annual meeting will be held prior at 4 p.m.
SPRUCE HILL TOWNSHIP
Neil Garrett will be running for a three-year supervisor position. Colleen Burquest will be running for a two-year clerk position. Both are incumbents and running unopposed. Polls will be open from 1 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, at the Spruce Hill Township Hall. The annual meeting will follow at 8:15 p.m. In case of inclement weather, the election and annual meeting will be held at the same time and same location on March 20.
URNESS TOWNSHIP
Rachel Johnson will be running for a two-year supervisor position. Jim Thompson will be running for a three-year supervisor position. Judi Andreasen will be running for a two-year clerk position. Johnson was appointed in November and is now running for the remaining two years of the term. Thompson and Andreasen are incumbents; all are running unopposed. Polls will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13 at Urness Town Hall. The annual meeting will be held at 4 p.m.
