Minnesota Secretary of State Mark Ritchie reports that Safe at Home, the address confidentiality program administered by the Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State, has reached an enrollment milestone with 1,000 active participants.
“The Safe at Home program is a public and private sector partnership that works. This program helps people who have reason to fear for their safety greatly reduce the likelihood that the harmful person will locate them,” said Secretary of State Mark Ritchie.
The Office of the Secretary of State partners with community-based organizations throughout Minnesota to administer the Safe at Home program. Community-based organizations employ the application assistants that are the gateway to program services. Every program participant must meet with an application assistant to develop a personal safety plan. No application assistants are paid, employed or contracted with the Minnesota Office of the Secretary of State. However, an application assistant must complete Office of Secretary of State Safe at Home program training requirements. Currently, there are 184 application assistants providing services in 73 counties.
“Victims of crime deserve to feel safe—in their homes, in their schools, and at their places of employment,” said Secretary of State Mark Ritchie. “Since the Safe at Home program began over four years ago it has helped many Minnesotans feel safer.”
