State Class A wrestling: Panthers' Schlosser fourth
Osakis, West Central Area and Minnewaska all had wrestlers at state
Parkers Prairie’s Tyler Schlosser finished fourth at 195 pounds in the State Class A individual wrestling tournament last weekend at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
Schlosser, a junior, picked up a pair of decisions to open his tournament experience before falling to Adam Josephson of Minneota, the eventual state runner-up.
Schlosser then dropped into the wrestleback where he earned a pin before falling in a close 4-3 match for third.
Trenton Coyer and Garret Scherr of Osakis, Kyle Martineau of West Central Area and Ryan Stottler of Minnewaska all lost their first matches, and in each instance, the wrestler who defeated them lost the next match, ending their run through the state tourney.
STATE CLASS A INDIVIDUAL WRESTLING
106 POUNDS – Trenton Coyer, Osakis: lost to Zach Scott, Holdingford 8-4.
152 POUNDS – Kyle Martineau, West Central Area: fell to Austin Peterson, Eden Valley-Watkins, 11-3; Ryan Stottler, Minnewaska, fell to Devin Wicks, Walker-Hackensack-Akeley 7-4.
195 POUNDS – Tyler Schlosser, Parkers Prairie, 4th: decisioned Devin Wolle, St. James, 7-2; decisioned Justin Viss, Chatfield, 8-2; fell to Adam Josephson, Minneota, 10-3; pinned Brent Jaenisch, MACCRAY/RCW, 1:44; fell to Christopher Zimmer, Walker-Hackensack-Akeley, 4-3.
220 POUNDS – Garret Scherr, Osakis, fell to Josh Johnson, Blue Earth Area, 4:07 pin.
