Section 6A girls' basketball: Panther girls cruise to 6A-South finals

The Parkers Prairie girls’ basketball team made easy work of its first two opponents in the Section 6A South tournament to punch its ticket to the subsection championship.

The Panthers beat Wheaton-Herman-Norcross 65-38 in the semifinals on Saturday after taking care of Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 75-39 two nights earlier.

Micaela Noga led three players in double figures against the Warriors. She finished with 25 points. Tamara Schmidt added 19, including 16 after halftime, and Madison Dorn finished with 14 points.

Four players ended up in double figures in the win over BBE. Noga and Dorn had 18 and 17 points, respectively. Schmidt added 15 and Kaylee Dorn poured in 14.

The win set up a rematch with Hancock in the subsection title game. Parkers Prairie won the only time these two teams faced in the regular season in a 51-32 game played on February 23. The winner will advance to the section championship this Friday at the University of Minnesota-Morris at 7 p.m.
